Meet Petiole

Rachel Hodges, Founder

Rachel has been in love with plants for as long as she can remember. At a young age, her first love was the bamboo plant in her room, and that love has now evolved into a passion for all things green! Nothing brings her joy quite like walking through the indoor jungles of a greenhouse and picking out something that catches her eye. She also has a love for design and has found that styling houseplants is one of her favorite ways to express this interest. Rachel has extensive hands-on and educational experience with plants. Not only is she Houseplant Masterclass certified, but Rachel is also a certified Utah Master Gardener. Rachel is always looking to learn more about plants and hopes to use her knowledge and intuition to help others!

Why Petiole?

A petiole (peh-tee-ohl) is the part of a plant that connects the leaf to the stem. This small piece helps a plant turn its leaves to the sun to maximize light and aids in giving the foliage a unique arrangement or design. The purpose of a petiole mirrors the mission of Petiole Houseplant Consulting & Design, which is to connect individuals with houseplants and to provide beautifully curated designs for homes, businesses and events. Our hope is that by employing our services you will come away confident in your ability to care for and select the right plants for your space and that you will enjoy a stunning display of plants that will last for years to come.
